Fat Pens, Skinny Pens, & Around & Around We Go

Posted by

Over the last decade I've seen a number of great pens hit the shelves and then disappear as if whisked into another dimension. It's maddening. You find something you like, and POOF, it's gone.

Worse, trends make stability in a writing instrument nearly impossible--unless you spend an EEgads amount of money on something tres chic. We have done the switch from everything .2 or .3 mm to 1.4 or 1.6 mm, and pencil lead going from .5 to .9 and back to .5--a good harrumph is in order here.

Beyond this madness, social convention changed, not for the better, but for the worse (and the stupid). Editing work, correcting work, revising work, cannot now be done in red because it supposedly hurts feelings. Teachers and editors are now advised to use other colors. (as if no one can figure out that changes are in the offing) Since when are we so fragile that we can't learn from our mistakes? There IS no other way to learn. Experience is the great teacher. Once corrected, and you actually pay attention to what was changed, you now know the right answers, or whatever, and are an expert. This is good, by the way.

So, for the benefit of those who've been pushed about by all this upsy downsy pen creation, we offer a few stable choices for those needing a simple, useful writing tool.

Unafraid to edit in red? Try Uni-ball Roller MIcro in red. Item 60152.

Too much pressure? Use the Vision Evergreen 60386.

OK, you just want a black fine pen: 60025

NO? For a colorful, bold experience 1763687

Slinky and subdued? 1803503

Or you can go super bold....1783903

That has a whopping 1.4mm tip! It's big and comfy at the grip and it's curvy for great hand fit.

Or you can always go to the straight lines of the Impact RT. 65871

There are purples, greens, turquoises, pinks, oranges and even lime. Fat and skinny, curvy or straight, with micro or bold tips, they're waiting to be used to write whatever is on your mind. Go look!
