Sharpies are so much fun to use, and they are great for those of us who are artist wannabees. Why? They only make you draw the major lines before you can tell what it is you're trying to create. I couldn't do pencil drawing at all and was entirely frustrated. I even took lesson in the hope my hands and eyes would somehow link up and spill my ideas onto paper. Sadly, it didn't happen until Barb Brocato over at Art Time (Mandeville, LA) mentioned using Sharpie for my attempts at making stuff look like more than blobs or creations by Klee. (Ok, lovers of his work--I have to say I enjoy his stuff, but let's face it, he should have stuck to the violin. I refer you to Mask of Fear. Even in this moment I am laughing heartily. Mr Potato Head Unfinished is more like it. (Paul Klee did this work in 1932. It is oil paint on burlap. I think it is part of the collection of MOMA in New York. Go visit the museum and have a giggle. Klee had a great sense of humor.
Anyway, let me point you to something done by someone much, much younger. This is from Art Time.
They do this with Sharpie! (By the way, they are at http://www.arttime.biz/)
When Barb mentioned this type of drawing, I tried sketching my dog while he was reclining next to my chair. It actually looked like him and I was encouraged. Now it's just a matter of finding the time to practice. And the neat thing about Sharpie is...well, there are many neat things about Sharpie. It comes in 28 colors and a bunch of different tip sizes including fine, ultra fine, xtra fine, chisel and...ready? BRUSH TIP.
If you want to create on a tee shirt or sneaker, use the Fabric markers. If you need something for cement, use the Sharpie Industrial. For areas where there are high concentrations of radiation, use the TEC. How about counterfeit detectors, ultraviolet markers, Glow in the Dark Sharpie Neon, or even the Sharpie Pens.
Seems like summertime is a good time to get busy with this cool product. Oh! if you're moving, there's nothing like marking boxes with Sharpie. How about using different colors to organize which box goes in what room?
I hope I've gotten you thinking about cool projects. Have a super Sharpie day!
