I use Papermate Vibz for almost anything requiring pencil lead and an eraser. Why? I like fat lead--the Vibz pencil is a nice .9mm. It's dark and wide, and I can easily see what I've scribbled down. I use it for editing the books I write--and those I am editing for others. I make lists; I do Sudoku; I even write rough drafts of my plot lines with this little zinger of a pencil.
When it first appeared in the Papermate line, I thought it was for kids only. When a package was damaged in transit, and we opened it up to see if the pencils were still intact, I tried one. It was a nice surprise. And I discovered I could use it with the gooshy grip or roll the gooshy part down the barrel and use just the pencil itself.
Papermate even provides the packages of leads so you don't have to throw the pencil away after you exhaust the leads that come inside the pencil.

I think if you try it you will agree that it's a great all-purpose mechanical pencil. But watch out...kids steal these. So do spouses!
